Park City, Utah – it’s one of the only cities where the tourist population vastly exceeds the permanent residences. However, it’s no surprise. It’s one of the most quaint little towns both rich in history as well as breathtaking views. As if the world breathed life into a postcard, Park City inspires a sense of childlike wonder. From the frosted windowsills to the old Victorian buildings that line the small town, every corner is as charming as the last. I’m not the only one who shares this sentiment – Forbes Traveler Magazine names Park City among the top 20 prettiest cities in the United States.
Originally a miner’s town, Park City is tucked just 20 miles southeast of Salt Lake City. The American gem is best known for its top-notch ski resorts: Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort, and Canyons Resort.
Fresh powder isn’t all Park City is famous for. The town continues to grow as a sought after destination as it hosts Sundance Film Festival, an annual celebration that recognizes independent films from around the world. Founded by Park City local Robert Redford, the program creates jobs, attracts tourism, and raises more than $70 million dollars to the state of Utah.
Park City will likely continue to grow in popularity, as Vail, Colorado recently acquired Park City Mountain Resort as a result of leasing disputes. The new gatekeepers added PCMR into the industry leading Epic Pass Program, so pass purchasers have the ability access the resort without additional fees. Other slopes accessible through the Epic Pass Program include Colorado based Vail Resorts like Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and others.
For me, however, this trip focused on life après-ski. Since I felt slightly under the weather, I ditched the ski slopes and explored life outside the chair lift. Below, I’ve included some of my favorite spots as well as local favorites…
