If you haven’t heard of GG Crackers by now, it’s time to get on board.
First, let me give you a little background. The Scandinavian “appetite control crackers” gained initial momentum due to the F-Factor Diet by Tanya Zuckerbrot, a globally recognized dietician.
What is the F-Factor, you may ask?
Fiber, fiber… and alas, more fiber. The dietary approach stemmed from Tanya’s earlier work with patients struggling to control their diabetes and cholesterol levels.
The results were pretty spectacular.
Not only did her patients vastly improve their clinical conditions, but also they lost weight in the process — without feeling hungry or deprived! In fact, according to her website, the F-Factor diet permits you to dine out, drink alcohol and, *gasp*, eat carbs.
In short, you’re encouraged to maintain your normal lifestyle, with the addition of plentiful fiber.
Sounds pretty damn good, right? Well, it is. Moving on…
I’ve been a fan of fiber for as long as I can remember. While I am fortunate to have a fast metabolism, I am very conscientious about what I put in my body. If I don’t eat properly, my energy levels tank, and I immediately want a nap. But seriously… I am a professional napper.
So, when I learned about these miracle crackers from Lauryn Evarts Bosstick of The Skinny Confidential, I knew I had to try them.
I’ve been eating them almost every day for a couple months now, and I can tell you that I feel a tremendous difference. I feel leaner, my stomach is flatter, and my energy levels continue to improve.
Each cracker has 4 grams of fiber for just 20 calories and 2 carbs. Amazing!
Now, full disclosure: these crackers do NOT taste good. In fact, they taste like sawdust. Seriously, you could probably line a hamster cage with these. BUT, you can disguise the taste in so many clever ways. Believe me, it’s worth it.
Like Lauryn, I love adding a layer of low fat cream cheese and lox to the crackers. I also add fresh herbs like dill, and finish it off with “Everything But The Bagel” seasoning from Trader Joes.
Another great way to enjoy these is by making them into miniature pizzas! All you need to do is add 1 tbsp. of pizza sauce per cracker. Top it with mozzarella, miniature pepperonis, sliced jalepenos, you name it. Pop them in the oven at 400 degrees for 6 minutes. Done. How easy is that?
In fact, I saw Lauryn at the Beverly Hills Hotel last week. Oh, and guess what she was doing? She was eating none other than GG Crackers with lox, cream cheese, onions… you know, all the fixings you’d typically enjoy on a bagel.
I introduced myself, and she was nothing but so sweet, personable, and funny. She was everything you’d expect her to be. 🙂
So, thank you Lauryn for introducing me to my fav snack. If you haven’t tried them, I seriously suggest you do. Find them on Amazon, here.
